<<Vouchers would create as many problems as they would solve.>>

Nope, they will create high school grads that don't need a calculator to know 15 from 20 is five.

The best way to help schools is the tried and true. Create easier tests and dumb down the curriculum. If that doesn't work create alternative standards to allow social promotion.

Leave no child behind is a good motto, really it is. As long as you are not leaving the whole class or the whole school behind to achieve it and that's why some people are considering vouchers, very simple.

I am in agreement with everything you say about vouchers.

What many conservative Bushies don't realize/understand/care to understand is that vouchers may come back to bite 'em in the butt. Once we open the Pandora's box of giving U.S. tax dollars to religious grade schools and high schools, then there are definite negative consequences to consider, i.e., having Washington dictate curriculum choices to "voucher-supported schools," using tax dollars to fund fundamentalist Islamic religious academies in large cities, on and on.

Too many conservatives on this board can't think past the official party BS mantra of "leaving no child behind" or whatever term the GOP spinmeisters have lifted.
