$325,000,000: A Big Game bonanza draws many dreamers

You're caught up in the frenzy of it all, pitching in on the office pool, daydreaming about how you would spend your Big Game lottery winnings.

But consider, for a moment, the math: The odds of winning the $325-million pot are one in 76 million.

Nevertheless, hopefuls in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia are clamoring today for tickets and chasing the dream.

By the time the Big Game balls drop tonight at 11, the pot could swell past the $363-million U.S. record, set in 2000 and split by two winners. Last Friday, players had their eye on a $220-million prize, but there were no winners. By Monday, ticket sales were so swift that game organizers sweetened the pot with another $25 million.

So run; the deadline to buy a $1 ticket is 10:45 p.m.

Well porchers...This was just the 2nd time that i've ever bought a lottery ticket...After going for a run along the Lake Michigan shoreline I was walking through my neighborhood and stopped at Jamba Juice --> everyone seemed to be talking about this lottery drawing tonight that had a MEGA jackpot of well over $300 Million...Now the odds are only about 1 in 76 million so I figured why not take the plunge <G>....I just zipped around the corner to a local convenience store and bought 4 $1 tickets...If for some crazy reason they would ever pick one of my numbers I can promise you that I would host a BIG porch party for anyone who wanted to attend -- we could come up with an ideal location too. I would also set aside a significant portion of the funds to start a foundation to help kids learn more effectively. Besides that I would consider starting a hedge fund, launching or funding a new technology firm, helping out some relatives, traveling more....Oh well, no need to do too much dreaming....Have a great evening folks...I'm off to O'Hare to pick up my sister.
