If you want to find a way to avert this kind of terrorism, then have these muslim extremists spend more time studying this Surah referencing the Children of Israel:

submission.org

In particular 104 where the Koran states that Israel will be gathered together once more...

This is, by most accounts, a religious battle between extremist Islam and Judaism and Christianity. The only reason the Israelis are considered a "threat" is because their western ways threaten to disrupt the age-old power structure of the mid-east.

But the reality is that Islam has been twisted in such a way that it has created hatred for Israel, despite the very fact that the Koran cites that god will once again gather the people of Israel.

That should dispel much of the intrinsic and irrational hatred that is being generated. After all, both people are considered "semites"..

And btw, that goes for the Israelis as well.. There is simply NO REASON why both peoples can't live in peace with one another.

Just make the case that by seeking the destruction of Israel, Arabs are violating the "will of god".

the kind of terrorism that inspired the creation of this thread

Wrong. <g>

I subscribed to Foreign Affairs early last year and started considering creating a Foreign Affairs Discussion Group early last summer. The thread title is quite explicit -- I just wanted to discuss the articles in each issue with a few other interested subscribers. In that narrow sense, the Foreign Affairs Discussion Group is a complete flop. :o(

Please subscribe to Foreign Affairs -- there still may be some hope for the Foreign Affairs Discussion Group after all... :o)

<<...When Bush said that Sharon was not being "helpful", this was in my opinion what he was referring to. We cannot do it alone. And it certainly won't be stopped by killing people in the West Bank. Far from being helpful, Israel is dragging us deeper into its own special isolation at precisely the time when we need the broadest possible support from the international community. Saddam must be having a good laugh.>>

GST: Thanks for sharing...I agree with you...Hope you have a safe trip.
