SYRIA PROTECTS TROOPS FROM ISRAELI ATTACK April 16, 2002 The Middle East Newsline reports: "Syria has withdrawn the bulk of its troops from Lebanon's central region toward the well-protected Bekaa Valley in preparation for an Israeli attack. Israeli intelligence sources said the Syrian redeployment of thousands of troops from the Beirut and coastal areas of Lebanon coincided with the current Hizbullah offensive along the Israeli border. The sources said Syria expects Israel to target Syrian troops and facilities in retaliation for Hizbullah rocket and mortar attacks. 'The Syrian redeployment is tactical and seeks to remove troops from exposed regions of Lebanon to the Bekaa Valley, where Syria has heavy anti-aircraft defenses,' a senior intelligence source said. 'This time, Syria is ready for an Israeli strike.' The Israeli intelligence assessment asserted that Damascus was stunned by Israeli strikes on Syrian military installations in Lebanon in April 2001. The Syrian military has bolstered its surface-to-air missile umbrella, including SA-4 and SA-7, in the Bekaa Valley and improved its arsenal of Scud-class missiles. This has included tests of the Scud C and Scud D, both of which can carry chemical warheads…"

Nonsense, Sharon won the libel suit. Sharon was not responsible for the Lebanon war; Arafat and the UN are.

Wrong. Sharon lost the libel suit against Time Magazine, despite having a judge who was an ardent Zionist (what a coinkydink!) Tom, Your practicing the big lie again for your employers. No matter how often you repeat a lie, it doesn't make it true.

Thomas what is it with you? Blind hate? Sharon won the libel suit, furthermore, the URL in your post does not mention anything about Sharon, it is a lot of whining about "Jewish influence" etc. You are a big boy, get to the point, you think Israel should be destroyed and all Jews deported back to the countries they came from. Why, I am not sure, maybe we should apply the Muslim citizenship law to Palestinians and deport all those that cannot show continuing residence in Palestine through the father line since at least 1913. Arafat will be the first deported, since he is an Egyptian. Is that what you want? the first part, you have advocated more than once, how about equivalence? Hamas goal is a Muslim country for the river to the sea, as long as many Palestinians follow that tenet and engage in terror against innocent civilians to try and achieve that goal, they get no state, is that not clear to them after 50 years? The longer they pursue the terror policy, the smaller the foot print of the state they get. They should know that there are severe consequences to their terror, including the potential of losing a state all together. I hope that Bush and Powell are making these facts of life very clear to the Palestinian people and leadership. Zeev
