I liked -

"It'd be nice if we lived in some
magical fantasy world where we
could get energy from the sun and
the wind, but we need to deal with
reality."

"America needs to reduce its
overall oil consumption, but I can't
bring myself to ride the bus with a
bunch of puds. So Arctic drilling it
is."

Sure we can produce energy from the sun and wind but if someone thinks they can replace oil then they are living in a "magical fantasy world".

Also I doubt most Americans want to give up their cars, trucks and SUVs and ride busses everywhere.

That having been said I wouldn't necessarily object to not drilling the oil in ANWR right away as long as it was eventually drilled when oil becomes more scarce, but the issue seems to be framed as "drill it now" (or at least give permission now and have the drilling start in a few years) or lock it away forever and never drill.

Shut up. Go away. We want the oil.

It ain't your country anyway. Did we tell you you couldn't drill in the North Sea?
