Dan, Re: "Re: The Mobile Athlon XP ranges from 1400+ to 1700+ so only one additional speed grade

Correction:

In one case, they vapor launched 1600+ and 1700+ parts (which match the clock frequencies of the Pentium 4-M). These parts weren't even "officially" launched, but only said that they would be released later in the quarter. In the other case, AMD actually managed to paper launch 1500+ and 1400+, which come in below the speeds of the currently released Pentium 4-M speed grades. These won't appear in notebooks until the end of the quarter, and even then they will only sell in Japan and Europe by second tier OEMs Epson Direct, Sharp, and Packard Bell.

It was truly the most pathetic launch AMD has ever pulled. I remember one time you suggested that AMD should launch Thoroughbred, even if it is a paper launch. Well, you got your wish!

The Pentium 4-M is selling well in retail, and by the OEMs. There is simply no comparison.
