There is the key! Eddie clearly is a great talent but he has to decide if he wants to change direction. As I see it they would be wise to bring in some new blood at bass and also combine that with a change in musical direction. Cornell would force them to change direction just based on his vocals.

Also keep in mind that OZZY was washed up in the late 80's until he landed a unique guitar player in Zack Wylde. I think VH could do the same if they had the drive. A change from cookie cutter music is needed but the talent is there.
