We have the lowest taxes of any developed nation - unless you want to call Hong Kong a developed nation. Go try to find lower taxes elsewhere? If you want to move to the Caribbean, fine, but you'd have to be already rich to survive there. The US is already a magnet for every wealthy person on earth seeking lower taxes. Yet now we are running up record government debt again. Here we go again, huh? Bush trying to be Reagan II. Even has his own equivalent of the S+L debacle sputtering along, with the energy gougings and attempts to grab huge government tax-breaks for Big Oil and polluting power companies. Do you approve of us paying for those companies to "explore" in wilderness areas? $9,000,000,000 I believe is the amount Bush wants to give them now, GIVE them. Our money.

In the old days we didn't need as many taxes. We didn't have military bases all over the world, highways systems criss-crossing everywhere, social services to protect the poor from starving, college loans, FBI and CIA, satellites, space program, etc. etc. etc. Back in the old days things were a lot simpler. It's not realistic to compare 2002 with 1902.
