I also think he is a bit of a crackpot but I don't think the paper is a crackpot paper.

Is that considered the second paper [after the WA Post] in the DC area? I mean is it a major paper with lots of readership?

Yes it is the second paper in DC. Is it a "major paper"? Well how big does a paper have to be to be major? Its not the New York Times, or LA Time or Washington Post, but it does pretty well for a second paper of a city the size of DC. (Actually I guess more of its readers are in the suburbs, Fairfax County has more people then DC for example)
