The fact that Apple can produce such a machine shows what a sack of cac the allegations of a MS monopoly is.

MS has a monopoly on MS software. So what?

you are right, MSFT has a monopoly on just Wintel desktop PCs.....what you are not understanding is that monopolies are not illegal.... Apple has a monopoly too.....

what is illegal to do though, is to abuse your monopoly.... for example, to leverage your monopoly to get into a completely different market that was innovated and grown by other companies with out any help from illegal tactics, like when MSFT decided to leverage their OS monopoly to get into a browser market, a market that MSFT didn't even know could exist without the innovation of others..... Netscape had a better product, and 85% to 100% of the market, before MSFT decided they wanted in..... as soon as MSFT bundled IE, Netscapes market share dropped to less than 20% and falling, so netscape no longer had a reason to improve or innovate their product, so they stopped upgrading it, and now MSFT has a monopoly not only in OSs for wintel PC's it has a monopoly in Desktop browsers.... a market that Bill Gates first thought was a fad, and would go away, until his younger hires set him down infront of a PC using Netscape, and let him Surf for awhile.....

imagine what kind of innovation we have lost because Netscape had it's hands tied..... AOL only started recently putting money back into the netscape product, and have made major strides already... but that still doesn't give MSFT the right to do what they did....

now MSFT will have to pay in Civil court to netscape, for big money to the tune of $billions of dollars, and then TRIPLED for MSFT being dumb enough to get themselves declared an ABUSIVE monopoly in court...

notice how you need to include the word ABUSIVE for MSFT's monopoly..... where Apple just has a Monopoly.....
