Dan, Re: "AMD gained share."

Yup. Up to ~19%.

Intel sold about 34M last Q.

P.S. Nice to see that MSS "matters" again.

Outlook :
The company's outlook statements are based on current expectations. The following statements are forward-looking, and actual results could differ materially. Economic and industry conditions remain uncertain, and continue to make it particularly difficult to forecast product demand. The company's current outlook is based on the following projections.

The company expects substantial sequential growth in sales of flash memory devices in the second quarter.

The company expects that unit sales of PC processors in the second quarter will follow seasonal patterns, which generally show a sequential decline in the range of 5 to 10 percent. The company expects to maintain unit market share at current levels in the PC processor market. The company expects to sell substantially increased volumes of AMD Athlon XP processors manufactured on 130-nm technology in the current quarter.

Depending on unpredictable PC processor pricing patterns in a generally weak PC market and the rate of growth in the flash memory market, AMD aggregate sales are expected to be in the range of $820 to $900 million in the second quarter.

Been saying they need $900 Million in revs to break even in Q2. Looks like that's about gone.

Re: record PC processor units
Intel unit sales were flat.
AMD gained share.

Gained share in CPU's shipped, but probably not yet in computers shipped. AMD sold a lot of CPU's the last two weeks of the quarter which are only being sold now.

But Dataquest measures computer sales so their numbers will probably just be flat.

I was pleased to see that they did more than just match last quarter's units.
