Tony, Dell is gaining amongst the name brands, however the white box crowd(white box wholesalers as well as SD shops) is getting more and more share than the name brand crowd.
AMD has made gains in this white box and SD shop crowd. The IBMs/ GTW, CPQ are getting badly kicked since they are losingshare at both ends, to Dell and the white box crowd. CPQ is doing OK in laptops and servers(top end and blades, where Dell is still a distant second)

AMD is doing very well in SD shops and may be getting as much as 50% across the board. In my shop we are ~85% AMD and sell Intel only to meet a client request. Yet all the laptops we sell are Intel based since we do not have a CPQ dealership(nor do we want one)

White box laptops from Taiwan (semi knock down kits(SKD)) are still predominantly Intel based. We can buy those but they are not much cheaper than the name brands, unless we buy 1000 kits and make them here. (since we are buying from SKD importers who want 20% margin.

The SKD laptops are now good quality and do not fail the way they did 2-3 years ago. Specialist laptop case makers and mobo makers have appeared that allow you to make units from a variety of parts sources, like the standardization in ATX cases, Mobos and power supplies.

You can also find those funny things from Taiwan, combined bottle openers/motor scooters/skeet shooting gun/DVD players

Just kidding, but there are an amazing number of products you can find from those pages.
