since you are retired why don't you just home school your daughter? There is so much more opportunity for "real" experiences that way. M

I agree, Kevin, that it would be wonderful if we had the available time to take our children to visit every state capitol, or every Civil War battlefield, or the home of every former President of the U.S. Unfortunately, mundane tasks like work consume such large chunks of time that memorization is the only way they could possibly qualify as a guest on Do You Want to be a Millionaire someday; or be capable of holding an interesting conversation if they find themselves the dinner partner of the Dean of their University sometime in the future.
