You are thinking of a broker in a different country?

... not in the Caribbean?

Isn't the avowed business purpose of any brokerage to separate your money from you?

One of the large Japanese brokerage houses was indicted for doing that very thing, but only for customers who were ranking members of the Yakuza (Japanese Mafia).

Looks like you'll have to trade a finger for the money.

I want a broker who will take any CSCO LT options I bought last year at an 80 strike price, and reprice them at, say, a strike price of 10. And promise, if the stock doesn't go up, to change the strike price to 5. I'd like to see my interests aligned with those of employees.

our stocks may be down, but boy, does this community still rock!

I said I would tell folks what I decided regarding the brokerage switch, and now have an answer: I'm staying with Schwab. Why, you might ask, since I had had such problems and since I had sworn to leave unless they were solved? Therein lies a tale...

Someone who follows the thread noticed my initial post and contacted me via PM. They had a friend high up at Schwab, they said, who was very concerned with customer service and who would be hopping mad about my case if what I said were true. Would I care to elaborate on the details and see what happened? Sure, I said, although I was skeptical.

So I gave chapter and verse about the various problems I had had, provided account numbers, names, dates, etc. This was passed on to the powers that be, and sure enough, a couple of days later I got repeated phone calls from extremely senior Schwab folks falling all over themselves to apologize, walk me through just what had happened and what was being done to correct the problems, ask what they could do to make me whole, keep my business, etc.

My beef, it is worth recalling, hadn't just been about the mistakes (which can happen anywhere), or the attitude of the Schwab folks I had dealt with previously (they were always polite and respectful), but about the inability to get problems fixed quickly if and when they arose. Now, however, I was dealing directly with quite powerful people inside the system who pleaded with me to stay and told me to call them directly if there was ever any kind of serious screwup in the future. So, since we've had good dealings with Schwab in the past otherwise, I decided to give them another chance, and am staying put.

All I can say is, thanks thread!
