My favorite ‘guesstimate’ as for the Arab League’s recent willingness to discuss accepting Israel’s right to exist, is that they may be growing wary of the excessive radicalization of the Muslim world.

It wouldn’t be the first time. “Black September” was an example of an Arab country lashing out against terrorists, when they come to see them as a serious threat.

With millions of people in Pakistan and elsewhere subscribing to ideas of Islamism, it is possible that Saudis and other major Arab countries are beginning to worry seriously about this new class of Islamic Revolutionaries. If Islamists take power, “moderate” Muslims may find themselves undergoing an extremely brutal “Re-education”.

I think it is likely that Arab powers may have arrived to a conclusion that they may not be able to turn the tide against their extremists without first achieving a settlement with Israel.
