Good regulation? They were instead the result of high social security and other labor taxes, laws that make it difficult to lay off employees, generous payments to the unemployed, and, in France, high minimum-wage laws. If you lump every possible federal law into one category and call it regulation then I can't possibly defend them. Problems in Europe are not related to preserving common resources, even such commons resources as "leisure time". I know no country that has a perfect system. Even a "perfect" system would need adjustment over time. I suspect the local minimum (nearest "better" solution) is somewhere between anarchist capitalism and the European style regulations. TP
