If you lump every possible federal law into one category and call it regulation then I can't possibly defend them. Problems in Europe are not related to preserving common resources, even such commons resources as "leisure time". I know no country that has a perfect system. Even a "perfect" system would need adjustment over time. I suspect the local minimum (nearest "better" solution) is somewhere between anarchist capitalism and the European style regulations.
