That gold-linked preferred may well be a good idea. I got totally screwed some years back on a Freeport-Macmoran oil royalty trust that I thought was a safe thing. Somehow the payments rapidly declined until soon the trust was in debt. . .I never could understand the accounting. All I know is that the investment became totally worthless.

So I feel uneasy when I hear the word "Freeport." Just a personal thing.
