Rubin's no dummy, and it would be nice if what she said were true, but I don't buy it. I see little reason to be impressed by the Saudi plan (which is so vague on key points that all sides can see in it what they wish) or by the Arab League's acceptance of it (which was so caveated and complemented as to be less than supremely helpful). Of course, I don't have much better to offer, and it would indeed be wise for the Israelis to respond to the Saudis the way they wished the Palestinians had responded to Barak at Camp David--not with rejection but with an encouraging, "Ok, you've come a decent bit of the way, now keep going here and here." But even if that all happened, I doubt much would come of it.
