4/17/02 - Apple Q2 Beats Street Estimates

Boston, Apr 17, 2002 (MidnightTrader via COMTEX) -- Apple (AAPL) tonight announced Q2 results, reporting revenue was $1.5 billion, up 4 percent from the year ago quarter. Net income was $40 million, or $0.11 per share, compared to $43 million, or $0.12 per share, in the year ago quarter. Analysts were expecting revenue at $1.5 billion and EPS at $0.10 per share, according to First Call.
Looking forward, the company sees Q3 revenue to be up sequentially to about $1.6 billion and EPS to be flat to up slightly compared with the March quarter. Analysts are expecting $1.5 billion and $0.13 per share. The stock is slipping 2.1 percent tonight on 69,111 Island shares.
