Among both Christian apologists (e.g., Justin Martyr) and Jewish apologists (e.g., Philo), the Bible was looked upon as representing the God of the Philosophers' as He would be assuming a lively concern for the triumph of righteousness. In other words, in the Hellenistic world, the Bible appealed to those who found the pagan myths puerile and corrupt, and were influenced by philosophy towards ethical monotheism, especially through Plato. The ritual laws were seen as a kind of ascetic imposition on the Jews. Since many quasi- converts remained "God Fearers", under the category of the Noahides (righteous gentiles), they did not apply to all who participated in synagogues throughout the Empire, but only those fully converted. The God Fearers were probably the first group rich in Christian converts during Paul's ministry.....
