Whereas I wouldn't be, since although my father was born Jewish, my mother is most definitely Gentile. [also liberal, Green, agnostic/atheist, polyglot and far better-read than me].

<rant warning>

What I find most repellent about the Orthodox parties in Israel - well, actually it's a closely fought battle.
It could be their exemptions from taxes, or their 1000-BC mindset, or their bigotry and xenophobia. Or their insistence on breeding like vermin [carefully chosen word] because 'the Lord will provide'. Or, indeed, their influence in the Knesset out of all proportion to their numbers.
Or their parasitic nature, since they contribute nothing to the betterment of Israel or the world, unless that be in fanatics and Torah study.
Or their specially endowed schools, direct equivalents of the Muslim madrassahs, pumping out more loathsome primitive fanatics like maggots from rotten meat.

Perhaps their most noxious trait is their insistence on ruling every bit of land claimed for Jews in the widest dreams of their preferred fiction - making them so much to blame for the problems Israle has today, not to mention the massacres with which Sharon lives out his dream of causing more misery than Hitler. (Wonder when he'll start shipping the remaining Palestinians into big concrete 'labour camps' with over-large 'ovens'?)

Or is it their exemption from military service - which means that the nauseating leeches get to see everyone else's children die enforcing their Bible-based fantasies of domination?
Personally, I think this is the only bit Heinlein had right in Starship Troopers - no military service, no vote. (If you aren't willing to serve and maybe even die for your country, WTF should you have any say in ruling it...?)
