I am outraged that American fire has taken Canadian lives. Our military has a long and proud history of excellent training. We are respected internationally for our professionalism and discipline; frequently called upon to train other nation's forces. So how is it that our servicemen were allowed to be sacrificed at the hands of incompetent American pilots? I am interested to know what the American response will be.

Am I the only Canadian who has noticed that when Americans engage the enemy overseas the first publicized deaths are Americans by friendly fire? It is deplorable that we have placed Canadian lives in the care of haphazard Americans. The American government should compensate the families of our Canadian servicemen as they would compensate their own fallen soldiers.

Though our military has become smaller over the years, we are no less proud of their accomplishments, training, heritage and service they continue to provide. Our military and our nation deserve answers and guarantees for the safety of our personnel.

Psychologically, I sense this loss will cause many Canadians to wonder if this is some kind of portend of American gratitude. We have sacrificed financially and with our caring spirit since the aftermath of September's disaster. Since that time, U.S./Canada trade relations have been stressed to the limit. On an emotional level, I feel many Canadians will see this tragedy through the eyes of an ungrateful ally.

America, please take care not to kill our countrymen in your pursuit of Pursuits.
