I wish I had taken some notes, but the Sierra Club spends more than 50% of their funds on solicitation with salaries remaining to be paid out of what is left. Senator Murkowski made the joke that with all the mailings these groups put out he wondered where they were getting their paper since logging has been all but shut down in Alaska. They have no highways that cross the state and they can scarcely get permits to log, mine, or drill. Cruise ships have also become increasingly regulated. The people who live there aren't happy with the abuse they have to suffer from outsiders who have never even been there and rightly so. * * *
