Funny. Folks that think the space boondoggle was a dandy thing would prolly get right pissed if their grocer charged them $1,000 for a loaf of bread. When some aggregation of private capital begins exploiting space for the benefit of consumers, I suspect there will be some Marxist remnants that will be outraged.

Your first paragraph is meaningless chatter. People want cars and the fuel to run them. The market's done a pretty good job of supplying them. It would have done better sans the interference of your gods. That's about it.

As to what you call corporate welfare, we're probably in some agreement, though I assume you subscribe to the fiction that reducing taxes on corporations constitutes welfare.

The reason the United States has never launched a comprehensive alternative-energy program is because of (1) America's love affair with gas-guzzling automobiles/trucks/SUVs;

So what? Your alternative-energy won't run in Trucks and SUVs? Never heard Nader mention that little glitch.

(2) How intertwined our economy is to gasoline and diesel fuel;

So you admit the goal is to completely tear apart the economy so you can re-configure it along lines more acceptable to the reds ....uh I mean greens. No thank you.

Good old supply and demand. Something that seems to be alien to your value system. You prefer a small, leftist ruling elite that tells everybody what's good for them and forces its values on everyone else.
