Art...you make a good point. Sharon isn't Israel. Unfortunately, however, he is defining Israel and, secondarily, Judaism for a generation of young media followers, both East and West. And since we love in this country to refer to Israel as the only democracy in the mideast, he is also somewhat defining democracy to the Arab world. As an American, I would think this would concern you???? ------------------------------------------------------------ Gotta run...back later.

art, For one thing Sharon isn't Israel. Neither is Arafat Palestine. By the way, Israeli's elected Sharon. He is a convenient diversion and scapegoat for Palestinian ills. Oh, you mean like Arafat is for Israeli ills? It is not Sharon who is murdered on busses or at Passover seders. Unfortunately, Sharon has not yet been incarcerated after a public trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Hague. When the dust settles, Israel should be made responsible for many many billions of dollars in war crimes reparations. Sharon is the leader of Israel. Therefore his actions represent that country. Finding Sharon guilty is insufficient. Reparations for murder, territorial expansion and aggression should be made a "millstone" around Israel's neck as an example to the world. When Barak was in power the murders were already in full swing. Unless a killing female driver is considered freedom fighting. What about murdering pregnant women and children? This seems to be a weekend past time as an amusement for many bored Israeli settlers. Here is what Israeli's elected when they voted in Sharon: "Even if you prove to me that the present war....is a dirty immoral war, I don't care," he said. ". . . Even today I am willing to volunteer to do the dirty work for Israel, to kill as many Arabs as necessary, to deport them, to expel and burn them, to have everyone hate us. . . . And I don't mind if after the job is done you put me in front of a Nuremberg trial and then jail me for life. Hang me if you want, as a war criminal . . ."
