in the long run it will make their stock more resilient -- I think they are just being pragmatic -- lowering the bar -- they probably don't know any more than anyone else how bad it is going to get, they just see deterioration.

MSFT doesn't need a lofty stock price, killing the entire mkt would be in their best interest, their competitors would feel the pinch before them. Hard for sunw to sell SparcStations when you're busy doing reverse splits, that's a tough one for the sales guys to handle -gggg-
