Les, one other thing I have noticed is how the shills go out of their way to try to explain away things that have a negative impact on earnings but when unsustainable factors had a positive influence on earnings it was ignored. I first read about the esop scam in 1996 or 97. Companies selling puts and buying calls - Dell . Capital gains on DOT.CON POS. Very little was said on CNBS that those sources of earnings were unsustainable. It was mostly attributed to the productivity miracle creating a profit miracle. Now people can see much of it was hype and based upon misleading statistics and aggressive/ misleading accounting. mike
