I don't think the church has a big problem with that idea. I don't follow the issue too closely but the church doesn't try to weed out gay priests, it just tries to keep the priesthood celibate.

Church rules on celebacy were originally a reform. A priest may eventually become bishop, cardinal, or pope. In order that the office of pope not become hereditary the priests were prevented from having legitimate children. The prohibition on sex was tied into other doctines of not having sex outside of marriage.
