Albert,

Lenin was a left winger, for whom the commies rooted, he was one of them, and so was Stalin, until they became disaffected with him. It was only when the revelation of Stalin's brutality became undeniable (btw, the left which even back than controlled the press was not very forthcoming about reporting on what Stalin and Lenin did to their people), there was a split on the left, some remained followers, despite the atrocities, others felt a great sense of betrayal, and turned against Stalin.

The left wingers just feel a great sense of hatred against "the rich" and anyone who's goal is to confiscate their wealth it is one of them.
