Dear Joe:

You forgot to note that the P4's were not running ECC RDRAM. ECC will slow down systems over non ECC. Also, why did they not test the AXP 2100+ with a KT333 (KT400) MB with same PC2700 DIMM? Dual processor boards typically are a few percent slower in 1P configurations as compared to single processor boards. So they were comparing buffered ECC DDRDRAM 2P with 1P versus unbuffered plain RDRAM single only board. When fully populated, the dual AMP 2000 blew away all P4s and the dual P3s.

So your use is not good for the conclusions you reach. When the P4s are on a MB that takes 2 and uses ECC RDRAM, or better yet, ECC DDRDRAM, then such a comparison might be valid. For example look at the results between AXP and AMPs using single and dual boards. You will note a decrease in performance greater than the amount between P4 and AMP in the results you supplied.
