Does it not even occur to you that there are legitimate national security issues at stake in the ANWR argument, or do you just assume that Bush's motivation is solely to line the pockets of Big Oil?

If there was legitimate national concerns, conservation would have been imposed long ago. Drilling oil, even in new locations, is not the answer...........at least not right now. Up until the recent spurt in the price of crude, drilling for oil has not been cost effective for drillers. That's why their stock prices hit all time lows just two months ago. It had been projected that their 2002 earnings were to be low.......and any increase in those earnings are still subject to question.

However, even if they did gear up to start drilling in existing fields, it would be 18 mos. at least before the oil got to us. That's why the stock prices of the Oil and Gas Operation companies which are further down the line have hardly moved. And that does not even take into consideration all the work re at the ANWR site........which has yet to atart any of the extensive infrastructure work required to make the field productive. We would be lucky to see oil from ANWR in 3 years and it will more likely be 5. However, that's not possible not because the DEM controlled Senate killed the measure. Bwaaaaaahahahahahaha!

Of course, you knew all that......being the brilliant and all knowing creature that you are.
