An absurdly low definition of a "Have". That's simply the level of income where one begins to make ends meet without having to sacrifice necessities.

What are you calling necessities, cable TV and California wines? I dare say you must live in one of those areas where housing is extremely expensive. I know a lot of families that live on 30k or less and its not like they are walking around with no shoes. Its unbelievable to me what a warped view most Americans have of what one "needs" to live.

I remember talking to a friend of mine who was feeling like she didn't have enough put away for retirement, she was in her mid thirties with several million but she'd just read an article where a guy was saying if you really wanted to be secure in retirement you needed a minimum of 10 million. I just laughed because no matter how much people have they always feel they need more at every single income level.

70k a year puts you in the 99 percentile in terms of the people in the world but I'm sure it doesn't feel that way in NYC or Northern California.
