Food Stamps for Immigrants
Issue: Food Stamps for Immigrants

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If America is drowning under a deluge of immigrants, both legal and illegal, why does our Congress continue to offer incentives to attract more immigrants?

A few years ago, in order to stop attracting immigrants, welfare benefits for immigrants was eliminated. This week, an amendment to the Farm bill is being introduced to restore Food Stamps to immigrants.

It is urgent that you email your Congressman and Senators today, urgin them to vote against the Baca Amendment to the Farm bill ... or we will have another new wave of immigrants crashing onto our shores.

Please act immediately

Polaroid bankruptcy agreement shafts retirees

Source: AP

******************************************************
" ... The agreement (between Polaroid and Bank One) appears to make no mention of liabilities for the company's pension fund, however, which could be bad news for retirees.

" ... Polaroid retirees have lost benefits and been told the pension fund is underfunded. Colcord said retiree benefits are guaranteed to some degree by the quasi-public Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp. but could not provide specifics.

"We're a little disappointed that Polaroid didn't see fit to include the retirees in these discussions, and similarly disappointed that Bank One has indicated they are not going to assume the pension plan," said Scott Cousins, an attorney for the retirees."

I wonder if high-level Polaroid execs will also have to "take a hit" in regard to their pension plans?

I suspect the answer is no.

Another example of why we need more unions, not fewer, to protect the working men and women in America.
