You are proving my point that that net worth info is difficult to get a hold of since that survey is four years old. Income data can be culled pretty easily and on a timely basis. I've argued here before that there has been a significant improvement in household net worth (even with the drop in stock prices) only to have it pointed out that the asset side of the net worth statement is supported with questionable and fluctuating assets while the liability side is non-fluctuating and indisputable. The argument goes that what matters is the ability to service the debt with, you guessed it, income.

So what is it that is important for Americans to feel wealthy, net worth or cash flow? I'd argue that the more of both people have the poorer they feel! Why is that?
