I don't know of any traders who bet on randomness like Taleb does, but then again I'm not perfectly informed.

This guy will admit to you that he doesn't know a thing about market patterns, and takes the position that no one does. His purchase of long term out-of-the-money options is presumably made in order to lengthen the time in which random events can happen. I suppose such options are also cheaper.

In the ultimate analysis, gimmicks rarely work. My view is that it is best to buy shares in good companies with good prospects and let the future take care of itself.
