Cheney checks in with the Jews

(AP) Vice President Dick Cheney showed up at the Israeli embassy Wednesday night with wife Lynne to help Israel supporters mark the country's 54th birthday. He devoted most of his remarks to saluting David Ivry, who bid farewell to the embassy after more than two years as ambassador. The key post is now vacant.

Cheney told hundreds of guests, gathered beneath a pitched tent in record-breaking heat, America's friendship with Israel "is strong and enduring and cannot be shaken," and the US diplomatic effort, led by Secretary of State Colin Powell, is making progress toward peace.
Among those sighted at the bash were many congressmen, Cheney's chief of staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby, his Middle East adviser John Hannah, and Undersecretary of Defense Dov Zakheim.

Only you could provide us with your reason for posting the news report of the friendly fire accident, that was widely reported in all news outlets, with barely disguised relish.
