They're actually still able to move them with their "upgrades." People don't learn.

MSFT was praised for, among other things, "giving more detailed projections." No matter that the projection appeared to be a warning:

"Microsoft says it expects to earn 41 or 42 cents a share in the June quarter, on sales in a range of $7 billion to $7.1 billion. Before the earnings report, analysts had been forecasting earnings of 44 cents a share, on sales of $7.65 billion, according to Thomson Financial/First Call.

"The company also took a much dimmer view of fiscal 2003. Microsoft lowered its earnings target to a range of $1.89 to $1.92 a share, when analysts had expected $2.01. The company anticipates added expenses next fiscal year to increase its direct sales force to small and mid-size businesses."

As long as the projections are detailed, I guess. It's all in the details, such as the P/E of 50.
