A meaningful abnormality is one that reveals a deviance from proper functioning of the organism. For example, when I have a temperature of 102 degrees F., it is a meaningful abnormality, and reveals that I have a serious virus or infection. Suicidal ideation is usually taken to indicate that something is wrong with an individual, and absent a situational explanation (for example, quadraplegia), is taken as a sign of bipolar disorder. Persistent dizziness and unsteadiness on one's feet is a meaningful abnormality, generally indicative of an inner ear infection, although there are other possibilities. If you want to argue that there is no significance to sexual fixation on a pet, that is your right, but it is not obviously unreasonable to find it a meaningful abnormality......
