(Nasdaq:SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software, today announced that the United States Patent Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 6,367,077 to the company, which relates to technology implemented in the Siebel Application Upgrader, a unique application upgrade capability for enterprise application software. Built into the architecture of each version of Siebel eBusiness Applications since 1997, the Siebel Application Upgrader gives customers a fast, automated, low-cost means to upgrade to the latest version of Siebel eBusiness Applications while preserving the customization they have built into their current version. ``Traditional enterprise application software has been characterized by manual, labor-intensive, and incredibly cost-prohibitive upgrades to new software releases,'' said David Schmaier, Executive Vice President, Siebel Systems. ``Since 1997, we have built in comprehensive, automated upgrade technology for our customers, and this is the primary reason why more than 90 percent of our installed customer base has upgraded to the latest version of Siebel eBusiness Applications within 12 months of its release. The technology behind the Siebel Application Upgrader enables enterprises to take advantage of the new enhancements included in Siebel 7, such as its Smart Web Architecture or market-leading functionality, without compromising the investment they have made in customizing previous versions of their Siebel eBusiness Applications.
