The person responsible for sending 15,000 for ill-fated jihad is...

Jailed for seven years. The leader of a banned pro-Taliban group and twenty-nine colleagues are jailed for seven years for sending fighters to Afghanistan, a government official reportedly said on Saturday.

Sufi Mohammad, leader of the Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Mohammadi (TNSM) was sentenced last month after a trial held in jail in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) town of Dera Ismail Khan, deputy jail superintendent Bin Yamin.

A TNSM worker told Reuters that Mohammad and his colleagues planned to appeal.

This is the man who made the writ of the government a joke in the tribal areas, he comes from the areas where even British avoided the pitfalls of governance and allowed the tribal their flexible jirga based version of medieval governance, the ability to jail him shows the lost of massive loss of radical capital since fall of Kabul. If Saudi ‘Muttawas’ provide the money for extreme Wahabism, it was this radical belt of tribal areas with Pashtun & Afghans who provided the cannon fodder under Sufi firebrand extremism; no one ever stopped them or confronted them from demanding the highest of bid of lowliest of acts. This is a good news overall.
