The West is addicted to the Arab oil being produced by regimes we support. They control the lifeblood of our economies and confrontation with these despots will be painful.

There was a glimmer of hope when Chavez fell IMO, that perhaps a strategy with Norway, Russia, Mexico, Venezuela, other NOPEC nations and conservation could have removed some of their leverage over time. But at this point in time, I see the occupation of Iraq and the development of their reserves for the West as an option to gain leverage over the enemies of the West.
