Yes, they don't like anybody but themselves. I don't think they care for each other too much either. De Gaulle pulled them out of the NATO setup as soon as he returned to office in the '50s, and ran his own "Force de Frappe".

We let them tag along as a separate force in WWII and gave them there own sector of Germany to run. When they got it, they turned their Foreign Legion loose in it to rape the German women. They raped almost as much as the Russians did in Berlin, but it did not get any publicity.

This whole "EU" is going to be very interesting as time goes by. The Europeans are very "Merchantilist", with high exterior tariffs and a "Beggar thy neighbor" attitude. When you combine this with the very high cost of their social programs, they are really heading for an economic fall, IMO. I think anybody is going to lose money the next few years betting against the "Euro".
