It's funny you should mention that particuarly quote...When I heard Bush say it, I thought to myself, he sounds like
an authentic red-neck...

No, I do not think that the U.S. has everyone turning against it....You may remember that on September 11, dozens of U.S. bound airliners were diverted to Canadian airports...in Gander, Newfoundland nearly 20,000 people were stranded in planes...the whole town opened their homes, hotels and other public place to these people...passengers with babies were taken in by complete strangers...no money was sought or accepted by these people...the followup stories in the Canadian papers (we actually have a few good ones) told of German tourists who actively set up scholarship funds for children in Gander as token of appreciation....and yes, Americans who were in those planes also were thankful for the generosity of the Canadian that day...I know the U.S. takes us for granted in certain respects but let me give you this hypothetical..what if rather than Canada as a neighbour, you had a hostile state who would have denied landing rights to those planes and told them if they crossed the border they would be shot down? what then?

The Brits, the Canadians and the Aussies understand the issues. Many of the others either do not understand or if they do, would rather posture. You should be proud of Britain and Tony Blair.
