Zeev I believe you are wrong on stating that the Palestinians were helpless. They were very much in control of the situation in Beirut. They were fully armed in Sabra and Shatilla. They had tanks in these camps. The Libanease government was so weak and was very much afraid of them. Only the Maronite Christians and the Phalangists stood up to them and tried to rid the free world of that desease.
