Many of the analysts who are recommending a "buy" on Sun Micro now are areally recommending it as relates to its low present price, not because a largely optimistic near term earnings gain. I think $17 sounds good. I really think it wll go much higher than $17 in the next year or two since, as I said, Sun has a competetive array of products and services as well as software to put systems together. Also 3 year service contracts are running out and there is a desire to simplify systems through concentration of more powerful servers as oppsed to many smaller mid-range servers. Also remember there will be new software technology that will require beefier servers and storage to handle the new services that will be offered. I also don't this it will hurt if Sun Microsystems wins their court battle against Microsoft. That would be huge and I believe that it will be a psychological boost to the company. Short term there will be a range in which I believe Sun Microsystems will trade in. I would like to see it break 10 as it will be a technically important milestone which it didn't hold a couple of months ago.
