This is what MMPA has to say about Gummo:

Rated R for pervasive depiction of anti-social behavior of juveniles, including violence, substance abuse, sexuality and language.

The San Francisco Examiner review say:

Sant is a big "Gummo" fan, and finds the influence of Fellini, Arbus and Godard in it. That's a considerable reach. Korine's trying to offer a radical vision of rotten America, but the whole thing feels warmed over. (Interesting casting note: Linda Manz -- where has she been since "Days of Heaven"? -- pops up as a tap-dancing mom.)

The LA Times says:

"Gummo" is a series of exercises in gross-out humor and outright depravity, all of which are nothing but what they say they are: postcards from hell. Korine isn't editorializing. This isn't agitprop cinema. It's button-pushing, pure and simple, made on the cynical assumption that the only way to get our attention is to make a mess.

Your comment about not watching it unless you enjoy watching car wrecks is apt.

I think I'll pass.

(ps-DSL back up. I'm still down to one computer however. Whereas I couldn't get the other machine to boot before, now, after a trip to the computer fixit guys, the power supply seems to be uncooperative. Even the little fan thingies are not spinning).
