I am sure that your sulliness detracts not at all from your charm...<g>

Actually, I don't think it was all that sully. When people represent that materiality has a moral nature extrinsic to personal human judgement and valuing, it must either be challenged or accepted. I challenged it because I believe it is sully.

We create our "oughts" and "ought nots" through a complex system of social interaction with others. If I am an Orthodox Jew then the chicken I eat must be killed in a very precise way, else I am sullied. The act itself is morally neutral. It is the "meaning" of the act to each individual which determines whether that person feels sullied. It is the opinion of others which determines whether that person is regarded as sullied. Often the several perspectives are entirely at odds with one another.

It little matters whether the persons knew that they were introducing and assuming an idea of absolutist morality (alongside of their God-given right to judge with absolute authority on the moral nature of things)--the presumption was inherent in the discourse.

Harboring moral value extrinsic to personal judgement is sully in my books. The moral value of my acts are neither intrinsic to the act, nor dependent upon the prejudice of others. I do not expect what sullies me to sully anyone else. I determine my own morality through the personal value which I place upon things. I kill my chickens anyway I can...
