I wouldn't use the word "senile" wrt Sharon. Lebanon '82 was 20 years ago, and by all indications Sharon remembers it way too well to be described as "senile". There was a lot of outrage then, probably more than now even. Didn't much matter then, and I doubt it will matter much now. All estimates of Sabra and Chatilla alone had a body count way more than the entire Intifada II campaign against Israel; the higher estimates put it within a factor of 2 of 9/11 . That was different, though.
