EU and China sign IT agreement
europemedia.net
The European Union said it has signed an agreement with China to share IT
resources and set up shared or compatible mobile networks.

EU Enterprise and the Information Society Commissioner Erkki Liikanen said
Europe and China would make good partners because they share a similar mobile
market.

"Mobile growth is linear in the USA and Japan, while it is exponential in the
European Union and China," Liikanen said
at the opening of an information forum
exhibiting European technology products in China.

The agreement between the two countries would also give China s researchers
access to GEANT, the high-speed research network in Europe. Chinese
researchers would also be allowed to apply for part of the E16bn in EU funding for
joint technology projects
