I gather Mubarak also believed the crap about the Temple not really having been on the Haram...there's so much garbage spread around in some circles that people can start to believe their own propaganda...I repeat what I've said before, that it will very interesting to read Ross' and Indyk's memoirs of the negotiations.

As for Sri Lanka, a couple of points. First, the deal isn't done yet. There have been apparent rapprochements in the past, often when new administrations come in, that have fallen apart in the end. I'll be moderately skeptical of this settlement until it is actually a done deal. Second, the conflict has its own dynamic, and may not be comparable to the Arab-Israeli one in a variety of ways. But I agree, it's certainly interesting to watch.
